The Standard of Pet Care Excellence
Fun Paw Care Dog Training was founded by Certified Dog Behaviorist, Trainer, Nutritionist, and pet expert Russell Hartstein, CDBC, CPDT for his love and deep knowledge of animals, and because most dogs are killed for poor behavior than any medical illness.
Russell was saddened that there were no safe or trusted animal behaviorist experts who provided comprehensive and optimal pet care, taking into account a dog’s behavior, training and boarding, daycare, health, nutrition, and enrichment.
To make matters worse, the dog training, behavior, and the pet care industry are completely unregulated. Scary, I know. In this unregulated industry, lousy, outdated advice gets passed around like a bottle of Maddog at a college bar. There is a dearth of accurate, up-to-date scientific evidence-based knowledge and a plethora of misinformation, myths, and harmful outdated advice.
Millions of companion animals are killed year after year. A disproportionate reason for this is a culture clash and a misunderstanding between the way a human perceives the world and acts upon it compared to companion animals.
Our passion and goals are to educate both two-legged and four-legged animals to improve their bond, teach new behaviors, skills, help save relationships, and invariably see the joy emanating from the faces of clients and their pets.
This is how the elite Fun Paw Care Club Membership came into existence. We partner with parents to provide non-volume-based, integrative, and complete pet care in all life stages and areas of a pet’s life.

Fun Paw Care’s Ideologies
Dog training is the only science and discipline where one is teaching two different species simultaneously, both beginners, how to communicate.
Learning is an art and science, based on non-judgmental compassion and communication. That’s the approach of Fun Paw Care’s positive reinforcement dog training. Los Angeles dog, and cat parents, along with their pets, can learn to understand one another better through clear communication and cultivate and improve their loving bond with our services.
Priorities
- Teach in the most efficient, clear, and concise way possible for all individuals, pets, and family
- Make learning fun and enjoyable for both learners at the end of the leash
- Our dog training boot camp in Los Angeles opens up lines of communication so that both species clearly understand one another
- Provide unmatched service, passion, quality, transparency, ethics, and integrity with all Fun Paw Care family members
- Anit-Scale
Principles
- Fierce individualism creates unique sentient beings and mandates the treatment of such. Individualism supersedes breed, litter, superstition, stereotype, dam, and sire
- Never compromise safety, quality, passion, education, values
- Mutual respect built on knowledge, compassion, and kindness
- De-emphasize volume and emphasize customized learning and love
- Respect, professionalism, and accountability
- We adhere to the strict ethical and moral practices above and beyond, Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA), the standard of medical doctors
Inspiration
Early on, Russell learned the Golden Rule: “Treat people as you would like to be treated, and they will do the same.” We go above and beyond this principle and extend this doctrine to all sentient beings.
We treat every client (two-legged, four-legged, or no-legged) as our family and provide the most knowledgeable, and kind, science-based ethology, and dog training protocols to date. We use force-free, humane, and pain and intimidation-free dog training methods without the use of punition, coercion, or aversives. We treat our Fun Paw Care team members and every client as part of our family with compassion and exceptional experiences.
Humanity
Giving back is essential to life, love, and growth. We are proactive in our communities, volunteer, and support the voiceless, homeless pets (and people), disenfranchised, and rescued pets. Our Fun Paw Care guarantee is a cornerstone of our dog training mission statement.
We take our career seriously. We regularly teach and take continuing education classes and seminars to keep ourselves up-to-date on the latest scientific breakthroughs in dog behavior and dog training techniques.
